2008 Wallaroo Cup

In 2008, we are also running an event in conjunction with the Gold Coast Champions Cup - called the 'Wallaroos'  it is for teams playing by Rooball Rules for Under 8's and Under 9's.

We are giving these young players the opportunity to develop their soccer skills by participating in a round robin style event.

Participating teams will be included in the exciting opening ceremony of the tournament.

The Wallaroos will be playing at the world class Carrara Sports Stadium and surrounding sports complex.

The Carrara Sports complex is located within easy reach of the more than 20 pristine white sand, surfing beaches and popular tourist attractions of the Gold Coast including Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet n Wild, and Movie World.

September is a great time to enjoy a soccer holiday on the Gold Coast. The weather is perfect with average temperatures of 24 degrees Celsius and long lovely days and balmy nights.

The opening ceremony will celebrate soccer as the ‘world game’ through the performance of cultural displays by visiting international teams and members of the Gold Coast Ethnic Association in full national dress.

Teams will march to a Pipe and Drum band behind their Club, City, State, or National Flag. Gold Coast City Councillor Ted Shepherd will arrive in the Westpac Lifesavers helicopter to open the ceremony.

Teams are encouraged to bring club flags, banners, or other symbols that will add colour to the spectacle. See your local City/Shire Council and have your local flag fly alongside state and international flags for the week of the tournament.

Age Groups

• Under 9 year boys/girls – Players born on or after 01/01/1999
• Under 8 year boys/girls – Players born on or after 01/01/2000

Match Duration

• Under 8:                        2 x 20 minutes
• Under 9:                        2 x 20 minutes
• Half-time intervals:         5 minutes

Matches

All teams will play a minimum of four games during the round robin tournament

Awards

Each player will receive a participation memento.

Tournament Fees

“Wallaroos”  Ages 8– 9 years.

Team fee is AUD $450 per team includes insurance for 11 players and 2 officials
Any extra players/ officials incurs a cost of $15 per person.

Note: All teams in each age group will be included in a random draw at the tournament dinner for a participation prize of a team soccer strip courtesy of ATTACK SPORTSWEAR.
